Ready or not, it is time once more to Reconnect! This week we are joined by Japanese software engineer and two-time Visual Studio and Development Technologies titleholder Taiji Hagino.

The Tokyo native counts almost two decades in software engineering with previous experience in music and hairdressing. These days, Taiji works as a developer advocate with IBM and specialises in mobile, web, graphic design, and animation content. Further, he has been involved as an organizer in DevRel Tokyo and Node-RED User Group.

Taiji enjoys being part of Reconnect as it offers the chance to connect IT professionals from different communities. “I’m working at IBM, but currently any developer needs to use multiple cloud platforms. [I think] we can get synergy [between the] IBM community and Microsoft community like with the COVID-19 project MiPasa,” he said.

When he’s not working with IT, Taiji looks to build online communities and learn new skills.

“I have established an enterprise blockchain community with Microsoft employees, Oracle employees, and myself. In fact, recently we had the first time digital meetup with over 200 attendees!”

“Another interesting community which I host is called “Tech Learn w/English”. It’s for Japanese developers to learn English conversion skills with IT. It’s organized by 2 MVPs, one Microsoft Employee, and myself.”

Taiji looks back at his time as an MVP fondly, recalling the multiple cloud developer community he helped to create called Cloud Developers Circle. Today, the IT specialist encourages new members to the MVP program to diversify their skillset and never stop learning. “[Don’t] depend on specific technologies or vendors [because] currently multiple platforms are needed,” he said.
